Fix Ubuntu 10.04’s Grub

If you install two operating systems like Windows and Linux on one computer (dual booting), you may have experienced the problem can not boot to linux after reinstall windows or after you make changes in the composition of the partition. This happens because the grub loader linux grub overwritten by loader windows or partition so that differences in the composition of the computer does not find the grub configuration file.

OK, i will give you solution…

1. Prepare The Ubuntu Live CD

2. Run Linux by The Ubuntu Live CD, You must not Install them.

3. Open Console

4. Type this “sudo su

5. Then “sudo grub

6. Then “find /boot/grub/stage1

7. it will show “(hd0,5)“. Actually this isn’t the common. There’s a possibility that it won’t be “(hd0,5). it depend from your Laptop/PC

8. Type “root (hd0,5)

9. The Last “setup hd0

it will show off after you typed the last commend:

Checking if “/boot/grub/stage1″ exists… yes
Checking if “/boot/grub/stage2″ exists… yes
Checking if “/boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5″ exists… yes
Running “embed /boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5 (hd0)”… 16 sectors are embedded.
succeeded
Running “install /boot/grub/stage1 (hd0) (hd0)1+16 p
(hd0,5)/boot/grub/stage2
/boot/grub/menu.lst”… succeeded
Done

10.Reboot
